- I ate lunch then set off down the path next to the lavatorio down to the bottom of the valley (top of map) passing a dozen carved out rooms like Sutri maybe in the last hundred years used for animals.
- After 15 mins I was at the ancient Roman bridge : Il Ponte del Diavolo
- Guiseppe had recommended crossing the valley and picking up a trail on the trackbed of the old railway to Babarano Romano. I went that way 10 minutes, but came back as I spontaneously decided to stay within the valley on the track along the river in this satellite map .. I could see no one walked this path as the nettles were quite high. Riverside valley paths are no good normally cos there is too much zig zagging. Indeed it was slow going,
| but it became clear I was on an ancient track and I did find something amazing : I discovered a carved out city ... I went into a cave but carved out columns went deep inside and there was a carved out gallery inside overlooking the main chamber. WOW - I didn't get any photos I see there is a similar cave north of Pitigliano : Via cava di San Sebastiano.. they look similar

- I continued along the valley sometimes crossing the river eventually I came to a waterfall where there's an old dam and old mill or something.. further there were some more carved out caves this time of the eastern wall of the valley.
- Incredibly with all the zig zagging it was 5.30pm befotre the path came to the bottom of Babarano Romano. Some more carved out grotta rooms below this medieval rock pinnacle town. I came up to the stone path into the town. Guiseppe had recommended I visit his friend Sandra ? at the Parco office, but it was too late when I arrived so I walked around the medieval parts , cafe and then went back down into the valley and since rain was coming I set up the hammock in one of the grottas..good sleep
- To me this seems a common trait of Etruscan roads that it's a high walled channel in rock
