Cotswolds

Painting I responded to an emergency call from a friend whose house had been trashed by tenants and needed painting and repairing. I had hoped to do some work each morning and see a bit of the Cotwolds in the afternoon, but there was much more work than we anticipated and so we worked flat out all hours for 2 weeks.

So I didn't have much time to thinnk - NEXT I just went to the nearest hostel at Slimbridge. Went upto Dursley and walked parts of the Cotswold Way along the edge of wold (great views) to Stroud.

Nailsworth Town Hall.. Saw some great Theatre in Education (about drugs)

Wednesday ...Good Walk around Nailsworth (Mill Arts Centre etc) to Cirencester.

Thursday ... Fosse Way.. Fort, Gloucester (good alternative musical instrument exhibition)

Malvern Hills ending up here in a great hostel at the south end of the Malvern Hills. Some of the best walking in England here you can walk along the ridge of the Malvern hills up to Malvern cos the ridge is cleared you get great views all the time. There is a great hostel near Ledbury www.berrowhouse.co.uk so I stayed there right on the ridge of hills.

Friday Walked the Worcestershire Way footpath along the ridge. It's mostly unforested so the views are great. British Camp ancient fort. To Great Malvern (had to walk back cos no buses.

Saturday Tewksbury - Museum etc. When brick came in it became the fashion to show how rich you were so people would brick up the front of their wattle and daub houses. So today many brick buildings are actually wattle and daub underneath.

Sunday Ledbury walked back. keep wasting vast amounts of time walking and in supermarkets. Walked through the enormous preparations of the Big Chill Festival

Monday Worcester - historic buildings, cathedral

Tuesday - Upton On Severn - walking

Wednesday Hereford - walking tour - nice place

The Big Chill festival was 1 mile down the road and since they were looking for Stewards I decided to find out what these big expensive events are like ....
