- Boring big city, Chiayi, hitched road 18 to "teeming
fish valley", which is good,but spoiled by tourist dance show.

Stranded in the mountain mists about to camp when a bus
appeared and led to whole new series of adventures. At Shihjhuo
an indigenous town. I met Iwan the hospital administrator and he

Tuesday - Eventually I got to the Alishan Mountain Forest Park - it was a bit disappointing as often before I saw stumps of huge trees and only a few remaining, I was thinking how amazing it must have been 100 years ago when the whole area was covered with huge trees. There is only 1 train a day down It was a difficult to decision whether to leave after only 3 hours. The only other option was to hang around for another day ..the afternoons are all misty and I wanted to meet up with Lui Song
