311 Latvia - the Feeling of Europe and Freedom Now just came from Russia into Latvia in a few days to London. I just travelled from China thro Siberia and Russia ..So thanks to all the kind people who helped me there

As red paint can slowly fade into orange and then into yellow then so the culture has faded from Asia to Europe.. now from fear of authority and lack of information ..into freedom and signs in English.

I came to Latvia to get a cheap flight to the UK; I was in a hurry to get to the UK, but I wanted to see the main sights of Latvia. So I wondered around stopping off at interesting towns. I stopped of in a lakeside town, some castle towns, the central capital area and the western old towns, beaches and the second largest city Liepaja.

At the border already the road was good, the buildings new the Russian guards polite. Then I crossed it was completely Europe signs in English, clear information etc. The signs didn't tell me I was not in Latvia I was in Estonia, so I changed money into the wrong currency.

I walked down to the first village, took a look at an old Lutheran church (again signs in English etc). Then I hitched down the highway in Latvia.

Aluksne lakeside town I didn't want to rush so I ended up at a campsite with a nearby lake beach. Just like in Russia the inland beaches are nice warm places for swimming. In town : Now there were no signs in Russian and the place looked somewhere in Denmark or Sweden. Thursday, it took me less than 2 minutes to change money unlike in Russia then I looked around the museum etc.
