293 Arrive in Beijing - lots of the tourists, but not too difficult, still pretty cheap epecially beer at 25c a litre. It's getting developed now, but it is manageable there are areas of history and traditional buildings, not just endless skyscrapers like other cities - From the hostel in a hutong (an old style courtyard house area) I walked up to Tianamen Square .. and got hassled by bicyle taxi drivers and people trying to sell me things.
Sat - Rented a bicycle and went to the National Museum, Forbidden City (outside only as it was packed with tourists), Drum Tower, right to north of city where the Olympic Park is being constructed. Into new western style supermarkets. Sun - bicycle again - Old Buildings Museum, Temple of Heaven | Olympic Construction
