- I went to an archaeology talk at the museum. After a 10Km bike ride I arrived sweating just 1 minute late at the museum and ran in ... "sorry sir the talk has been cancelled". OK I thought I'll walk around the museum anyway. 30 minutes later I walked into the lecture room "you should have been here earlier, we have just finished a talk !". I asked them how big the audience was and they said one person, I told them that was hardly suprising if the guy on the door was telling people it had been cancelled. So I got her to explain most of it again.
- There were a couple of new interesting bits of local information in the museum I'd never heard about : - 1. the Kings of Lindsey they had info about the line of these kings between 500 and 800AD, then Lindsey became part of Mercia, then Mercia became part of England
- 2. Lake Humber 7000 years ago people could walk from Norway to Enland as the North Sea was frozen. The limit of the ice was around Scunthorpe so that water from the River Trent etc could flow out to sea so there was a huge lake at the end of the Trent. - and there seemed to be much more artefacts in the Museum
