413 KL Hulu Langat Lookout 23th March

It's a top place to take tourists for views and sunset views

- I decided to explore the Lookout place on the back road between the Hulu Langat Valley and the east side of the city at Ampang. I got down from the bus at the large mosque and began to walk up the hill hiping to pass a nice country place for lunch. I was unlucky though on this road all I passed was a jackfruit stall and 2 garbage dumps, though there were good views back to the valley. A couple of guys stopped to offer me a ride, but I wanted to walk. After 4.5Km I came to the lookout park. I was surprised that the lookout looks over the city whereas I expected it to look over the valley. You come through the entrance past a derelict net bird area, then there is a platform with 2 large Malay roof open restaurants and a free viewing area.

In Malay it's called Pusat Pelancongan Dan Menara Tinjau

A little further is a viewing tower with slightly better views. There are no forest walks as the rest of the area is owned by a training company. There are views right across the whole city, but for really good photos choose a time when there isn't much haze.
also a video a video can see the whole city

I guess it's good for sunset.

- Indian Festival

Down the road are a couple of places next to the road where you make a picnic with a view also.

- Further down the hilll I heard drumming. next to the road at a clearing there was an Indian Festival happening. So they invited me to do a puja and eat.

The shrine to the goddess Kalimat

Eating the goat they had sacrificed

More temples

- I walked down the hill and came out at a highway Jalan Taman Putra next to the 323 bus stop, not 1Km away fro CK's Mum's

- I could see the quarry at the back of the Taman Segar hill so I set off to find a shortcut. I stopped for a coconut in Taman Melur, then continued to Teratai. At the end of the road I stopped at a Buddist temple where they tried to get me to do fortune telling sticks thing. You shake the pot and one stick falls out. I couldn't get the knack either none or all fell out. Eventually unlucky number 4 fell out. They also had a replica of the great wall of China. They said there was no path to the quarry check on Google maps shows a straight canal coming from the base of the quarry beginning in a lake, and lakes tend to have impenetrables marshes around them. I walked a little further to a chicken farm, the jungle was quite pristine with leaf monkeys. I came back and went up to a simple temple with a view of the city.

So I had to walk the long way back I stopped for tea the price was the lowest ever @80c. In Kaskas there were 1 trillion Chinese restaurants.

map to Hulu langat lookout
- I started at the cross roads on the rightside then up the B62 - 4.5Km to the lookout then down to Ampang. I tried to shortcut back to Taman Segar from Mega Jaya, but turned back before the rain.
Also Google maps appears to show a huge working tinmine in Hulu Langat where the monorail factory is.
