MISTAKE First at the border they only allow 30 days, I am worried this is not enough time .. Should have applied for a visa in KL & got 2 months. (apparently it costs 25US pickup next day)

At Hat Yai ignored all the motorbike taxis & walked. Easily found Tourist office & Songkhla bus around the corner.

Pleasant town. Not much English spoken. Bag far too heavy. Muslims evident 10%. Old town, museums, lots of temples, walking hill lift viewpoint. Expat oil worker bars : nothing special beachside bars busy.

Nice hostel called ABC Just 50m from where the Hadyai bus turns around at the end. Around the corner from the Prem museum.

Seems English teachers aren't well paid in Thailand so the standards aren't high : teachers are inexperienced and often not native speakers like Germans etc. The classes are huge.
