PC375 Tenom + Train Sabah Trip

Sun - Journied to Murut Indigenous Center
There was no one at thr Murut Centre except a security guard. It was mostly just display cabinets. But there was a traditional hut. It is high in the air to keep cool. There is a suspended stage in the middle which is even cooler. And a throne at one end

Sun - Tenom and the Sabah Agricultural Park

So I continued into Tenom. I had a quick look around and continued onto The Agricultural park recommended in the Lonely Planet. Same old foreigner pricing. The park was not very interesting, if you are not into orchids or gardens. There was a strange flower similar to a raffleasia.

The hostel atmosphere wasn't great. It was full of technical college students. Being noisy etc.

Mon - Train from Tenom down valley

I met up with Lini at her school, but she was pretty busy supervising exams. I waited for the 2.30pm train which goes down through the river valley in the Crocker range. from Tenom to Beaufort

Suddenly half way 150 orang puteh (white people) got on the train. Seems they were all on rafting trips out of KK; after rafting on the river, they are put on the train to Beaufort

It was obvious that millions are being spent on improvements like new stations etc, by KL based KTM country . The section from KK to Beaufort was closed as the track is being replaced.

I had a look around Beaufort- nothing much so I moved on to Papar .. nothing much so I moved on to a hotel the Seaside Inn Kinarut. A nice beachfront hotel. The lobby has pictures of famous guests who have stayed there like Jit and Rafique Rashid. Here is the view and a Panoramic Video

Tues - bus to Sandakan
Decided to head on to Sandakan I was late - A Cumulative effect series of problems : I gave time to chat to other travellers at breakfast, then stopped to use the internet, then in KK I couldn't find the minibus to the bus station, then the minibus took a circuitous route, then the 11.30 bus was full so I had to wait until 2pm.
