Night Train Down
Awful Journey I took the night train down on Wednesday night. Last time it was good to take a seat, but this time it was school holidays so I didn't get a double seat, noisey & crowded, so sleeping was kind of rough. And I was in the middle of flu. I should have also booked a return seat as in Singapore you have to pay in dollars. On Thursday morning Malaysian customs somehow went past me on the train so I didn't get stamped out of Malaysia, luckily there was another customs at the station.

Lost $50 Wi-Fi card
I always keep my Wi-Fi card in my passport, but with all the getting my passport out put it away by the time I arrived at the hotel I had lost it. So after a $10 train trip I lost $50. This really pissed me off. I went back to look for it a few times, but ended up having to go back to Sim Lim Plaza to buy another high speed card (this time 54 Mps not just 11Mps ).

Lots of events if you can find them

I had expected there to be a lot happening, but when I checked before the net the official tourist info site seemed to list few events, and also when I arrived the tourist office said there wasn't much on. As usual the tourist office is half useless when I went down the Substation Arts Centre I found we were in the middle of the Singapore Arts Festival with lots of events evey day half of them free. Weblink also check IS mag and the other one Arts Xplosion NAC

Thursday Play : On North Diversion Road, by the young & WILD
of http://www.wildrice.com.sg 19 scenes of 10 couples driving to a meetup. I thought I'd give then a chance as it didn't sound as would be obtuse. But it got my tits. The acting -the actors all tried too hard so none of the characters were believable. Almost all the men had been cheating - stereotype Also script not good attempted to tie all stories together but it was confusing.
That's it I won't give any more plays a chance. From now on I'll only spend money on theatre if I'm sure it's going to be good.

Wed - Friday Bloody Awful Flu

Thursday and Friday I suffered with really heavy flu. Friday morning went for a run in an attempt to free up and expel the plegm fom my lungs, but actually afterward was awful it was difficult to breathe as if my chest was bruised. Then Friday night just before I went to bed I was back to normal. But how come I seem to get the flu for a day or 2 every 4-5 months these days wheras I never had flu until I was 33. Is my immune system weaker or the viruses stronger or more common or something ?

Friday Changi Beach

Ran. Then I went off to Changi Beach it was a little like Sentosa, lots of school kids camped out, but when I went to paddle I saw there was a lot of garbage.

Friday Museum

I came back to see a dance show at the National Museum..Not my thing ..especially when the students performed an indigenous dance yet part of the costume was fluourescent.. so I guess the dance was distorted from tradition also.
Pretty interesting furniture design exhibition

how to turn an old door into a seat

I was still wiped out from the flu so walked along the river to the esplanade. I saw a pretty good student jazzish trio and then a show by some Australian Tap dancers (Raw Dance Company). It was pretty professional I supposed it was supposed to be like Stomp, but apart from the fact the performers can do back flips neither performance was that great. Then went to see vertical dance on the side of Raffles, which was pretty boring.

Saturday Toa Payoh, + Police Carnival.
library, Toa Payoh - festival was more of a kids show

Police Carnival. Regular guns are now James Bond syle, you need to be gripping and then trigger to work, they have lazer sights built in with sight line.

There was another of these companies like "Plots for Profit" Jardine something; Their blurb even said "We specialise in buying up greenbelt and agricultural land in the UK, and then convincing the authorities to allow building projects", Get lost, what they mean is land is quite properly awarded Green-belt status and they come along and with some subterfuge get the status changed and turn a profit. It's obviously a scam if it was such a sure thing why would they need external investors. You don't need money to buy land as you can simply borrow against the value of the land itself, why bother cutting your profits with external investors when you can keep all the profit yourself.

Saturday Substation Rock Festival

Nat Museum, rock fest,

Then to the Substation ..strangly when I arrived I saw the bands playing in the garden. It turned out not only was there Rockfest at the Substation theatre, on the same day there was a Radio Station's : battle of the bands going on in the Gibson stage in the garden. So in the one day there were 40 or 50 bands playing. However I didn't hear anything to my taste so I walked further

Saturday Esplanade
Suddenly a Chinnook appeared over the water right downtown

NDS Singapore rehearsals
Military Festival : Chinook landing right in front of me. Speedboats and Landing craft parachutists landing with pin point accuracy between the lighting towers onto the floating stage 15 times. Attack helicoptors., 21 gun salute soldiers drilling. It was only when the kids came on and it was clear they were rehearsing I realised that the whole thing was a rehearsal for NDS National Day of Singapore.

Went into esplanade and saw a free show by a man using a Brazillian Tambourine and amplifier. Then to Suntec mall where there was "Mens Show" basically an attempt to create a forum to market products at men like insurance, investments, skin care products etc. - free beer -- but why didn't they have a man's fashion show etc

Saturday Hassles travelling back
1. I took the fast bus, but should have taken the frequent 170, cos I had to wait ages both times at customs for the next bus. The train was full. The bus station was manic with no seats available eventually they put on an extra bus for 6Rm more that was supposed to be VIP, but was old and rickety and didn't take the toll highways. Ugh
