PC353 KL Coronation week .. background audio Coronation Music

Thursday - Dataran Merdeka - doh
I was in D Merdeka last night with my old mates A Badawi and the king watching the elephant parade & dance show. Well OK its wasn't only 3 of us, with all the police TV people etc there were about 500 people. A few things were strange I thought the parade was supposed to be on Saturday not Thursday, why so few people, why did AB look different, why didnt the fireworks work ?

... Doh it took me 90 minutes to realise I was at the full dress rehearsal ..not actually the real show .. Still it was the best time to get videos. Monday Night : dance1.mp4 0.5Mb, Thursday elephant arriving 0.3Mb, lion dance 0.7Mb

Greenwash
Isn't Al Gore green ? ..No way, do the numbers he's 100 times more polluting than me, he has 5 houses, children, multiple cars and is always flying. Doesn't matter how much green stuff he's bought all are ecologically damaging cos of energy and materials in used production. cei.org/pages/co2.cfm
Fri - Filmmakers Anonymous 3
- local filmmakers show short films - Professional films, though not amazing stories disappointing that Malaysians are too shy to participate in a discussion.
Interesting 1. tackling schizophrenia, 2. story of the Highlands Towers - it collapsed in 1993 killing 48 people.. the worst thing is every year since towers have collapsed, (though not killing many people).
Raksasa still in town

Sat -Writers reading - Real King's festival
Sat literature circle - interesting idea & well organised, but the readings today didn't particularly grab me. - (someone should organise reading classic inspiring works) . Grace.

Merdeka - went to the end of the real Coronation show - Actually not such a good show as Thursday cos people kept back from viewing area wheras on Thursday we were sitting right in front of where the king sits. But this time there were fireworks. video fireworks.mp4 0.2Mb

Mon - went to see Rafique Rashid Again
Good to see a bigger crowd. He should turn his songs into a complete musical about the history of Malaysia.

BBC Shariah Court
The BBC reports : the religious police entered a Hindu woman's house and jailed her for being married to a Hindu. They say that even though she was brought up a Hindu by her grandmother her parents were Muslim and therefore she is muslim and shariah law applies and therefore "it's adultery to marry a non muslim". After 100 days they sentenced her to 80 further days for not cooperating.

They also reported on the council for ex-muslims in Germany. Talked about when German government talks to Iranian refugees it assumes the mosque represents all people when it doesn't.

Assholes win ? Is this a rule of life ?
People with no morals are happier ?
- These number guys who try to smooth talk every girl on the basis that 1 in 10 girls will give into them.
-These people who never clean up after themselves, so other people have to tidy up after them.
- These guys who are so aggressive in traffic cos what they have to do is so much more important than anyone else.

Number guys You do see them with girls having a good time. They just tell them what they want to hear. They pretend to like things they don't just to agree. They say you have to be dishonest to be successful. They convince themselves it's what the girls want, "they have a good time". But is it what they would want if they were women ? would they be happy to see their sisters and mothers manipulated ? I guess in Malaysia & other countries women are brainwashed into believing that they don't enjoy sex and cos many people don't know how to do it properly anyway. So the women lie to the men in this, so the men feel it's OK to manipulate women to get them into bed. Yes they both have fun, but surely relationships based on mutual understanding are better than those based on exploitation. Likewise they pursue younger women, cos they are easier to impress cos they are too naïve to see all the lies.. Isn't this immoral ?

What's wrong with lying all the time to fit in ? Well they might do it, but I won't.
But they get women and I get none at all so they are winning.

Me I respect women and can understand that they don't want to be bothered by men so I usually leave them to there own business.
- 99.9% of women are not compatible with me so I just treat most women as I would men.
-I generally avoid and despise "Pretty women" ie good looking who are too young, too big, too blonde . They know they are pretty so they behave like spoilt brats and you can't get near them anyway cos of the entourage of fawning men .
- I very rarely meet any compatiblewomen ie the right age, build and interests; I would make a special effort to talk to them. One passes them in the street sometimes, but you never know if they are single or what their personalities are like. When one does get to talk to them assuming one can get past all the other fawning men one would just talk to them normally and if you like each other you can go further.

One of my friends has this theory that you should pursue ugly women and date them, in order to meet their better looking friends. It's not a theory I subscribe to.

Sun - Titus Andronicus- film
Like a modern Hollywood film it was full of special effects and symbolism, but the story doesn't make sense. Did Shakespeare really write it that way ? It wasn't the normal amazing Shakespeare experience. A lot of violence & nosense of refinement.

it seems to be all about Tamoras revenge . She tells Titus that she (as a supernatural spirit) will grant him revenge if he will convince Lucius to stop attacking Rome.

The film was 3 hours long so arrived at KLCC late to meet with HC people.

Things start too late in KL

Went to a gig, but didn't even see the main band as I got sick of waiting around for them to come on. I wanted to Check a gig at Sri Hartamas, but no sign of the bus (later found doesn't run at weekends) so I had to rush and take a taxi. But typically Malaysian itthe show began 75 minutes late anyway. I didn't even get to see the main band as at 11.15pm I decided I should head back to the city. Even if I was downtown I still prefer to be in bed at 1am instead of hanging around in a club, never mind being stuck in the suburbs trying to get some transport back to town. Still Malaysia is not as bad as Brazil where everything starts so late that you lose the next day.

Paradise now - Dutch film about Palestinian suicide bombers

Wed - Much better than average American film. Did a good job of showing things aren't as simple nor as straight forward as we think they are, without taking a side so can't be written off by either side as pro bomber or anti-bomber.

the militants Criticize collaborators viciously yet they use a collaborator Jew.

What happened after the end ?
One killed a lot of soldiers, which provoked the Israelis to kill twice as many Palestinians. Yet he thinks he's helped the cause and lives in eternal paradise. Evidence suggest he's wrong on both counts.
The other one did the right thing, one presumes he would die anyway, but without killing others as his belt can only be deactivated by the Palestinian militants but they would kill him and so would Mossad. He'd have to run to the Swedish embassy or something. Anyway he can identify the drivers.

Actually if there is one bias - it would be impossible to find a bus, which wasn't a least half full of non-soldiers, tho one can argue that apart from women and youngsters all the civilian men have been soldiers.

Clearly suicide bombers don't make Israeli politicians more submissive. We changed Japan by dropping nuclear weapons, but that was when they had none, now the Israeli Military would just send 2 the other way.

Israel was obviously much richer than Palestine, but Palestine has cars and electricity etc so is not the world's poorest place. Life is not free, but in many other countries there are restrictions also like women not being allowed to go out, go to school or the poor being exploited. It's not good, but nowhere as bad as Jews under the Nazis. I wouldn't fight to the death, but wait for opportunity to do something else to improve the situation. If I had a beautiful woman, and I had to put up with Israeli hassles I could still have a lot of happiness. I would probably take my family to another country and make a life, which is in a way rewarding Israeli Politicians for their aggression.

It's like there you are living your own life, when the neighbors from hell move in next door. Normally you'd get the authorities, but what if these neighbors had lots of police and politician friends, just move to another house and get on with your life. You lose, but you lose even more if you stay. I imagine a lot if Palestinians have achieved more by moving away than if they stayed at home. Can children fight adults ?

Yes you can get vengeance, but 2 wrongs don't make a right.

I had to sneak into the cinema cos it was impossible to get tickets, but there was 1 spare seat.
