- It's cheap enough here, but there a few problems like the power cuts 3 hours a day and the visa costs $2 a day. I had taken 30 days at the airport ... so I needed to extend
- Yesterday I went to the Visa office, but it's moved. This morning there was no electricity so I couldn't do any internet work so I went to the new visa office. It's hidden so it took 30 mins to find. By the time I had handed it in it was 1pm they told me to come back at 3pm. I came back at 2.30pm and the guy said it wasn't there, yet when I asked 15 minutes later someone found it in the same box.

- Anyway that was most of a day wasted .. since I was near Paten I decided to have a look at the old city. It was better preserved than other towns, but on a walking tour of the temples I still found them rundown and boring .. guess with the Maoists in ascendency religion is dying. However it's Durbar Square is better than Kathmandu's. I found a cheap rooftop café overlooking it with a view to Kathmandu and the Himalayas.

In the last 2 days I have been to the laundry 6 times, 2 times to drop off and 4 times to chase stuff they lost. Yesterday they lost my trousers so I had to walk around in my sleeping trousers. Today I had to wait around for them to open before I could leave to travel. Thankfully they found my trousers and a lost sock but then I found that today they have lost my scarf, so I have to wait till I get back.
