Sun - arrive
- The heat makes people bad tempered - We came to the town I see my hotel from the highway and I stand behind someone else waiting to get off, but the conductor mistook my destination so instead of stopping the bus went on for 3Km more ... Walking I had to buy 3 drinks before I got to the hotels.
Bundi is a functioning medina (walled area of packed houses). It seems to have turned into a hippy hangout like Pushkar.

Homestay didn't quite workout|
- Found a guesthouse for 100Rp - great testimonials, but our timetables/languages never came together .. When I was home the English speaking kids were out. They were up early to talk, but I slept badly due to the heat. The first day they wanted to give me food, but I wanted to try outside the next day I asked for food, but they didn't eat with me. Each house has a shrine and they get upset if you walk past it.

Fri - Explore : Good Guide Bad Guide
- upto the fort - a young guide with a big anti-monkey stick had keys and was a good guide I gave him 100Rp - Saw views, towers, palace, music rooms etc.
- on the way down I came to the top end of the current palace which forms a private museum. The old guide there was entirely the opposite
... "Entrance is 50Rp",
"OK fine"
- "and you pay me 50Rp for guiding"
- "I don't need a guide"
- "20Rp then"
- He shows me a room with painted scenes, but I am not interested in paintings.
- "it's 50Rp to see the next room"
- "I'm not interested"
- "10Rp then"
- "He shows me some boring room and I leave feeling ripped off.
- The rest of the palace where the Maharaja lives looks very imposing and Italian.
- I wander in search of food. All the tourist restaurants are closed on account of low season. I backtack 1.5Km to the exit of the walled city. Even outside I find markets, but no restaurants. I stop 4 times for ice-cold "probably unpasteurised milk" at at least 2 time for sugarcane juice. I ate instant mash potato andd ketchup in my room. Ii can't even buy cannned sardines or tuna cos Hindu shops won't sell meat !

Pain in the arse
- A phone covered in ketchup and sleeping in an oven|
- I found than running away from the bad guide my packet of ketchup inside my bag had come open so now I had a phone covered in ketchup.
- By the time I had dealt with that I was too tired, I couldn't think about moving the heavy mattress outside. The room was on top of the house so I found at night I was cooking. You can't have the door or window open cos of the monkeys. I took a shower and tried to sleep ouside on my sheet, but the ants stopped me sleeping. - At 6.30am I had to open the door cos the electricity had cut so the fan was off.
I was lying on the bed stark naked cos off the heat and in a daze from lack of sleep and
She walks in wanting to chat. She's so short sighted she didn't notice. I slept till 9.
| Sat - Explore - Sagar Lake and south town|
- walked east out of town to Sagar Lake stopping at 2 dairies for ice cold milk. Despite being saturday all the drink stalls were shut. So collective auto brought me to south of town. - Tourist Office gave heaps of new brochures and CDs and directed me to a shopkeeper who is a prehistoric rock art expert Mr Kati ?
- again no lunch siesta'd at the nearby
cenotaph a large memorial to a dead raja .. cool cos it's got 3 stories. Walked back to town. - started on internet work. Now memory card 2 was usuable as it was stuck on read only so I had to transfer files to memory card 1. Then in the process card 2 suddenly corrected itself maybe I deleted a virus file hiding as a hidden system file.
| Sun - got shoe back from monkey raiding party
saturday night I slept on the roof, they warned me about monkey attacks so I had to lock evrything in the room. Even so I woke up dozed and there was a noise I looked up and up on the wall was a monkey chewing my flip flop. I jumped up naked after a couple of stones thron he dropped it.

- decide to push onto Udaipur got a nightbus ticket. So spent all day working on internet apart from siesta.
- Huge wind came so there was Big Rainstorm between 5-6pm - Chapati and ketchup dinner.
