Thu - Explore Pink City
Jaipur_Mosque_tower

- LP recommended hotel is now a luxury place 10 times the price.. Found a remote place a good deal 100Rp.

- set off to explore.. Hotel said use rickshaws, but those guys are a pain in the neck .. Using the minibus which go along the main streets worked for me. Boring streets untill you reach the walled part of town 4 quadrants of square Km each. First was a bazaar then got to palace area.

- First you climb up the internal ramp of the Swarga Suli (Mosque Minaret) for a view over the city.

- This was good and super breezy, which gives me ideas fordesert AC free living.. Either people could live in towers or you must be able to channel that high breeze down.

3 main sights in 20 minutes

- I intended to go into 3 sights, but when I weighed up what the guidebook said was inside against the foreigner price and then the guides hassling me I couldn't be bothered.
- astronomical observatory - glanced in the door it's similar to what I have seen in Delhi
- Royal Palace - didn't go in
- Palace of the Wind - main thing is the façade - so best from outside.

3 Sights out of town
- So 11am and I had finished Jaipur - in this heat its's siesta time, but bus to the original city of Amber leaves from nearby here so decide to go there.

- I tried to explore the town, but quickly went up to the huge fort above Amber.. Same old story you pay your foreigner price, but inside there's nothing special to see; it's the size and exterior that's impressive.
Amber-Fort

This page has better photos than I can take www.hotelsjaipur.com/jaipur_images.htm

- Next further up the hill to a more recent palace fort Jaigarh. A bit more to see like kitchens, bedrooms and a military museum, giant cannon, but Again it was the size and setting that's impressive

- I set off to walk the 10Km back down to Jaipur, but after 30 mins some Muslim kids gave me a ride on their motorbikes to Nahagarh Fort... I didn't go in, but just followed the path down to the city.

Attacked 3 times

- In the morning I hadn't jumped out of the way of an auto-driver on the wrong side of the road so it scraped my knuckle.
- Then now as I walked kids threw stones from the roof top,
- Cow tried to gore me 5 minutes later I bought a brightly coloured orange ice lolly as I walked past a cow it stuck it's head down and tried to gore me. I stepped aside, but I didn't move away as I couldn't believe it. Cos I was in a market area I had moved my bag to the front so this what saved me. It came a second time catching it's horn under my bbag ripping my shirt and catching my bag with such force that it broke the buckle. But the horn didn't reach my skin .... Bit shocking I jumped away.

- Plan
- A sugar cane juice and I decided in 1 day I had seen all I wanted to see and I was sick of being pestered so I got a bus ticket for Friday 11am to Bundi 5 hours away.

- Another cybercafe another pain in the arse .. Now my memory card keeps reverting to read only .. More time wasted
