My map showing the southeast of Shillong
Sat - Explore Don Bosco, New Colony, Shillong Peak and Smit

- I went up to Don Bosco and found it was a whole new town centre with shops and market etc.

- I walked through and came out at the Jowai road so I started walking up the hill and then took a taxi right up the hill to the sign marked Shillong Peak. It's 2Km off the road into the airforce base then another 1Km to the view area.
- The view is obscurred by the trees, but they are building a viewing platform.

- I walked back to the Jowai Road ad saw they were setting up for a festival at Laitnor so I'll come back tomorrow.

- Since it was just a few Km to Smit I went there. Not much to see it's just a small market town. I bought cooked sweet potato .. Famkaro in Khasi language.

- On the way back I got down and went back through Don Bosco to New Colony... just big bungalows on a hillside really.

Sun - Boring Traditional Dance Again
- I went back up the Jowai Road to Laitnor , but the dance turned up to be the same one I had seen at the Easter Old traditional Dance (Shad Suk Mynsiem)...Like last time it was pretty boring... What's the point in having the same dance over and over again. At a festival you normally have a wide variety to keep the public interested. ... There wasn't event any local beer cos they'd banned it ...

- I met the officials and the Khasi king .. But I'm not sure of the politics there.

- On the way back I got down near Lady Hadrei Park and found there was the Swimming pool and Crenalline Falls just behind there over the stream. Of course due the season the waterfall was small, and the park was full of pockets of drinkers and dope smokers; so I left.
