Fri- Arrived - walk around|
- Tried Circuit House, AP house after 1 hour found 100Rp hotel badck where I had got off the bus. - walking around I met Jyoti Gorgoi an NGO businessman who took me to meet his friends for drinks.... The thing is I'm boring when it comes to drinking, other people relax and get interesting, me I start off relaxed before drinking then get more serious.
| Sun - tour to Hydro project.|
- We drove to a rice mill for some reason first, and then to the City they have constructed for the dam project. Local people seemed worried about the dam collapsing ..I can't see a problem ..yes it's an earthquake area, but the dam should be capable of withstanding an earthquake as surely the government woldn't risk it's huge investment in the dam by cutting corners in construction quality - The construction workings are pretty big it seems it's a 2,000 MW project which makes it twice as big as an average power station.. but remember if the water is not at the highest level the production will be lower than this and with a long dry season it might average way less than 1000MW - and sin ce they give the electricity away I can't see any huge profit ..a lot of construction jobs I suppose-
- The production is not huge huge so I don't think they will be exporting electricity to Bagladesh as I at first thought.
- We stopped for BBQ pork - but the locals reaaly prefer fat which I don't like ..and the apong was not so good I guess they cut it with spirit.
| Mon -|
- Jyoti was going to show me a local rural Computer Access Centre (CIC), but he got waylaid in a meeting. I was trying to internet work, but there was load shedding.

Tuesday- CIC|
- Jyoti took me out to the local CIC. It doesn't seem to be so sucessful they don't get many village people dropping in these days. .. Hardly surprising as it's out of town .. if villagers are going to travel then they'd go to the market in the town centre.
- I was surprised to see that the program which guaranteed 60 days government project work to rural people applys to villagers all over the North East not just Sikkim and CIC administer these labour payouts. - We went for lunch at the swanky Maple Leaf Restaurant.. again Jyoti wouldn't let me pay for anything !

- Leaving |
- The local people were friendly and the hotel god value at 100Rp inc bathroom, but town is chaotic and dusty and not a particulary interesting place to be so I decided to push on to the Arunachal Border and Tezpur
