- Sunday was going to write to you about all these minor crises
keep happening. Then you know what I didn't write .....cos a minor crisis came up.
I am in Sparti a new city built 200 years ago nearby the ancient ruins. This was the plan I would visit the old ruins then find a cool dark place to write on my smartphone.. Then go to the cyber.
By 2.45pm I had done the ruins. They are pretty disappointing .... not much to see. I rest for an hour and start walking back to the centre. It-s bastard hot, but there is no place to stop ... So I keep walking.. After 45 minutes I decide enough and sit on some shop steps... Then I see as I walked both zips have come open. Everything is OK except the USB cable able for my smartphone seems to be missing ..I don't understand how it fell from my bag. It's important so I retrace my walk...I don't find it.. Now it's almost 5.30pm. As always with these crisies I am annoyed and have a headache so I go to the cyber for an hour. I decide I should go back to the resting place and check again ..No luck. I did find a useful small cannister I can use to put sugar in. At the moment I store sugar in a film cannister and coins in another.
Then I go to the cafe to start writing to you, butt then someone with a crying baby comes and sits next to me ...So I give up It's time to walk the 2.5Km back to the camping...... Where I found my cable. But there are very few happy moments in life always another crisiis comes.... I think my bus to the city of Kalamata is 8am, but the frst bus passing the campsite is also 8am so I will have to leave at 7.30 am to walk to the bus terminal. The campsite man says my bus is at 9am but now the bus terminal is clsed so Crisis 2 is I have to phone the bus terminal at 7am to check
Now I pay the campsite man but he gives me €32 ( $45) in coins 3 times more than my film cannister can carry.
My bus is 9am, but when I go to the road at 7.56am, the campsite manager smiles and says the bus already left. So I walk the 3km with my heavy bags. I make it OK and I buy the ticket. It's difficult to get the coins in my fllm cannister the cap has fallen into my bag.. Then when I am on the bus I realise my film cannister and €10 are missing ...... 9am and already my first crisis.. Stupid, Stupid Stupid how many times do I walk 2Km to save 50c and now I just dropped €10 !
I am sick of this long list of crisies and I am not talking about the computer problems and finding places problems which happen everyday aswell.
Recently I started a new phenomenon : 1 step back, 1 step forward, 1 step back
- Day 1 - I lost my trousers
- but as I looked I found a new sweat shirt
- Day 3 - I found a round metal box with a lid, but I already have a metal food bowl
- Day 10 my USB charger blows up
- Day 12 - I found some trousers
- Day 14- I found some more trousers
- Day 16 - I lose my old food bowl
- Day 17 - I found another USB charger
- Day 25 - Friday - I lose my sweater
- Day 28 I lost my money.
I notice I didn't find any money, but I did save money on buses by walking and hitching these past few days .. Ihave only $100 left cos I didn't get around to billing for my work .
Do you see the pattern ... As well as the crises
I find something I already have then I lose the original
I remember in life good things used to happen
Like In Japan when I told a writer I was camping he gave me $50 for the hotel. But the gods must hate me now only small bad things happen, but I hate them 10 times more than than the good things.
this weeks crises
Thursday - the ferry leaves 4Km away a 8am I leave the campsite at 7.15 and end up running ..I made it 10 minutes to 8
Thursday 2 - arrive after 2.30pm so Toursit Info and Museum closed
Thursday 3 - have to walkk 3 Km uphill to campsite
Friday - get bus to caves intending to walk the 1KM back to the road to catch next bus i. the cave is closed and the museum crap ii. the place is 5Km away from the road not the 1Km the campsite said ..I hitched to the road and got to the place without a bus
Friday 2 - Got down from the bus realising I lost my sweater, ..I had found an extra sweater 2 weeks ago
Saturday ..bus to Sparta .. wlked the 2.5Km to the camping the ..idiot there said Mystras ruins closed at 3pm and it was 1pm so I started runiing the 3Km ...1. the ruins were 2Km further 2. when I arrived at 1.40pm ..it tuirned out the place was open until 8pm.. so I first had to sleep for an hour I was so tired.
Sunday - got a hitch to town - saw the ruins - thought I'd lost my USB cable so in a bad mood
- I will head south as it's supposed to be the real Greece.
