Why I Despise England and the UK : Dumbed down, undemocratic, shabby tabloid journalism, over commercial, over consumption and waste, cold, drunk culture, violent council estates, lack of understanding about sexuality
The society is full of lies
It's not democratic, most people don't vote cos their votes don't count (there's no PR), most policies seemed to be decided by the juvenile editors of tabloid newspapers
The media is pathetic, professional and unprofessional, professional in technique and presentation, unprofessional in choice of agenda; reporters just go to the same old press conferences and copy all the other reporters ..there's no real news at all
,because it's not about "news" giving people the truth it's about making money. So it's not news
it's infotainment. If you can make a good story they think it's more entertaining so they sell more copies and make more money. Never let the facts get in the way of a good story !; so to make a good story there is all these half truths and speculation.
Society and especially the media displays extraordinary twisted values. They go on and on about some small points, making big points about trivial things. To me it's like the the Emperors New Clothes. No-one steps back and talks about the obvious fundamentals. Like : most people never vote ; we don't have a real democracy at all.
In the John Christopher novel : The Tripods aliens have invaded Earth and in order to control humans, at adolescence they implant each human with a skullcap which stops humans asking difficult questions, this is how it feels to be in England. Is the public being continuously brainwashed by the narrow focus of the media ? Is there a secret agenda to passify them by feeding then a constant diet of sport and celebrity trivia ?
Boring :For me the UK is a cultural desert, theres nothing to do.
There are 150 channels on the TV, but 95% of it isn't worth watching it's all soap operas, stupid gameshows and football. I don't like pubs nor watching sport on TV nor kids. this seems to exclude me from 95 % of the social activities in the UK. I can't be bothered to go to the theatre as 80% of the time instead of putting something on that genuinely amuses and entertains some other crap is promoted.
Anti-Social Behaviour drunkeness, vandalism, bullying, don't grass mentality
British people have a problem with alcohol, they drink a lot but they can't handle it . They become stupid and often violent.
It's more like Yobland than England
Poor Justice People have good intentions, but people don't have confidence in the system. The poor think the system works for the rich and well connected. The rich think that criminals get away.
I don't feel safe going to an English town pub on a weekend night, you're bound to get too much agro from violent drunks
Today 15 out the top 20 landed families were given their lands 1000 years ago, doesn't seem very fair to me
Corruption -other countries do seem to have immature values when it comes to corruption. But it's definitely not wholey absent in the UK : Politicians selling off state companies cheaply to their friends, the rich using elaborate schemes to avoid paying a fair share of taxes (e.g. Rupert Murdoch), the government helping British companies to sell weapons to other non-democratic countries who then use them to torture and kill innocent people, misuse of secrecy laws etc At least the society has enough honesty for these points to be raised in good documentary programmes on TV and radio even if they are hidden by the amount of trash on TV. (people like Duncan Campbell and Mark Thomas)
BUT ...... but polite, fair, But in 5% of the stuff on TV there are some good programmes; usually documentaries and plays made with professionalism and integrity. Great supermarkets. People help you if you ask, minimal corruption
In progress
| I feel no patriotism only despair. The UK is only 20% civilised it has a long way to go, but in my travels I find all the other countries are even worse

Be Stupid in Britain - In Britain it's always OK to appear Stupid, but if you appear intelligent people look down on you.
UK recession coming soon ...
oil is at record high prices .. since the UK is a petro economy the pound is super high ..hence imported goods are super cheap ... hence we seem rich ..
It seems OK in the short term but of course there will be negatives. 1. no foreign investment - with the pound high foreigners won't invest or buy our goods
2. the oil price will go down sometime so imported stuff will cost more our buying power will drop and inflation will rise.
One million people drive without insurance - a large number of lawbreakers. Why do they think it;s OK to break the law ?
The same right wing people who scream for tough penalties are the ones who whinge about speed cameras so in this case they think it's OK to break the law !
