PC471 Complaining About Media Nov 2009
Modern Movies usually waste my time.
- They can't just take an original story they have to twist it to fit a formula, they have to have a love scene, a sex scene, violence. I hate the characters Time and time I invest my time in watching a film and end feeling disappointed..

- In the TV guide amovie got a 4 star rating so I thought I'd watch it. What a waste of time ...it was a typical movie formula. Within a few hours of arriving at university the lead character has met a beautiful girl. His friends and flat-mates are dispicable characters. Then the next day he very easily meets another beautiful who is not a nice person as she wants him to help him cheat. The upperclass teamleader is a total stereotype so also not a nice character. The girl totally uses him. The teamleader insults his oik friend so his oik friend beats the teamleader up. 10 minutes before the TV recording the lead character also gets into a fight with the teamleaderand then notices that the quiz question file has been left on the chair so he starts reading it. They start recording the show although 2 of them are all bloody. Their team is being thrashed, but start to claw back. Then the lead character supplies an answer before the question has been asked showing he is cheating.

- This is the main point of the story : that he is a nice guy, but in a moment of madness does something really stupid so his life falls apart, but he has to come to terms with this and move on... this is the big lesson here. Yet it all comes in the last 8 minutes of the film, so it doesn't seem like much of a struggle we see him come back to the university and the second beautiful girl is waiting for him..happy but shallow ending.

- Much better is live theatre or the old films where they start out with a good story don't mess around with it to fit a formula.

- I listened to the independents podcast play about Turing, but i was disappointed it was all about his oppression for being gay.

Is BBC cometing bad ?
- The crap used to be on ITV and MPS said we should cut the licence fee the BBC doesn't have viewers now popular crap is on BBC so that argument doesn't work, but ITV is dead so it doesn't have the money to spend on local news etc.
- Is the public better served ?
Banging on and Endless Speculation is not News
- Thats Why BBC news is crap.
- see my whole analysis of BBC TV I made to answer their survey

Meanwhile Channel 4 is no better
disabled people find love and sex easily
- They have a new drama about disabled people called Cast Offs. Good to see disabled people as normally TV distorts reality by not showing a fair proportion of disabled... and I don't mind watching them whereas I do mind looking at fat people.

- but then Channel 4 continues to distort reality : In episode 1 a guy in a wheel chair pulls a woman on his first night out, in epidsode 2 a blind guy seduces a beautiful black woman. Out-flaming-rageous these 2 disabled guys find women and sex so easily yet I never meet anyone I fancy.. Real life is once every 6 months you might pass someone in the street you fancy and you'll be really lucky if you ever get to speak to her.

handling Sensitive Issues : warm up the audience first
- I note the other month Rhod got rather worried when Dr Karl started talking bout women's prostrates etc. Of course it's not really a problem to discuss things like that on the public radio, providing that the audience is prepared for it, you catch catch them by surprise you have to warm them up by warning them what's coming first.

Main Stream Medias MUPs Made Up Phenomenon
- Mcintyre on Sundays is quite good with investigations and fact checks on these simple exciting stories which actually turn out not to be true.
