The guy who documents mass killings ( powerkills website ) recently massively updated his figures on deaths due to Colonialism. I can understand he would have a lot of political correctness pressure to include this and I know the Spanish and Portuguese were pretty rough certainly millions died who wouldn't have normally. But His democide numbers don't include intertribal massacres. Surely sometimes Colonialism, caused some lives to be saved that wouldn't have been otherwise ?
Pinker's Essay
- his font wrong, please include % of race in numbers. Also has he thought about including life days lost ? instead of just raw deaths
And what about non-European Colonialism, but it is conceivable that Aztecs and Incas were tough on the people they ruled. Populations were often decimated when colonizers arrived, but this was more often by new diseases, whereas killings by previous rulers were more often deliberate. Africans invented African slavery, Europeans ended it .
I already know from living in Africa that it was the African's of course that invented African slavery.

Seems again people are quick to condemn a criminal as evil, when it learned behavior from when they were victims
